World music pioneer Piirpauke is turning 35 this year and is one of the oldest European bands in the genre. Sakari Kukko (wind instruments, keyboards) and Ismaila Sane (percussion) now collaborates with Eerik Siikasaari (bass) and Rami Eskelinen (drums), well-known from Trio Töykeät, as well as one of the most celebrated Finnish rock-jazz-guitarists, Jukka Orma.On the new album folk music, jazz and classical music meet. The repertoire includes both Finnish folk melodies, Sakari Kukko's compositions and music by Toivo Kuula, Konsta Jylhä, Tchaikovsky and Sibelius.
