„Hundinuiaõis * Bulrush Bloom“ is the debut solo album of Eva Väljaots – an Estonian kannel player with a distinctive style. It consists of her self-penned music, which she performs on several kannels, widening the playing techniques and bringing out the variegated timbre of her instruments. Each kannel opens up a unique world in Eva Väljaots’s picturesque soundscapes. Modern meets archaic in her music rich with improvisation and inspired by the present moment as well as her own heritage, age-old tales, and Finno-Ugric musical tradition. The music on the album is accompanied by Eva’s illustrations, which are published in the album booklet and follow the adventures of a bulrush bloom – a little and vigorous character who travels around the world.
