The young students Armas Launis and Eino Levón did a trip to Kainuu and Koillismaa in Summer 1902 to collect folk music. This book contains their tune collections with notes, reports and Launis’ travel diary, as well as a map so precise that the reader even today can find the houses and villages that Launis mentions. The book is illustrated with photographies by Samuli Paulaharju.
