Mikko Malmivaaran maisterikonsertti —”Unen ja valveen rajamaa” Rajalla on talo / sen sisällä on huone / jonka sisällä on huone / jonka sisällä on huone / jonka sisällä on huone.. Mikko Malmivaara astuu maisterikonsertissaan unen ja valveen rajalle, salaperäiselle seudulle, jossa alitajunta ja tietoisuus kohtaavat. Unet, muistot, haaveet ja pelot sekoittuvat reaalimaailman kokemuksiin. Rahisevat arkistonauhat, varhaislapsuuden tuutulaulut ja elävä nykykansanmusiikki soivat unen harson läpi kuin kaukaisina, vääristyneinä muistoina. Vai onko sittenkin valveilla olo vääristynyttä, ja vain uni totta? The boarderlands Mikko Malmivaara explores the border between sleep and wakefulness Mikko Malmivaara is about to enter a mysterious place where subconscious and conscious meet: the border between sleep and wakefulness. Dreams, memories, hopes and fears blend with mundane every day experiences. Rattling archive tapes, early childhood lullabies and vivid nordic traditions are filtered through a curtain of sleep, twisting and turning into distant echos. Or maybe it is our wakefulness that is twisted, and only dreams are real? Following the logic of dreams, the concert drifts from soundscape to another. Musical motives reminiscent of Nordic folk music morph into walls of abstract sound. At the center of the concert is a trio formed by Malmivaara (guitar) Tommie Black-Roff (accordion) and Klara Källström (cello). Through sensitive, open improvisation the nimble ensemble propels itself over the borders – towards the borderlands!
